Man Jailed After Making Threat With Gun

A Rockford man was arrested Sunday after he pointed a handgun at four people and threatened to kill one of them, deputies said.

Witnesses told deputies that Terry Douglas LaShaw was upset with his wife and pointed the gun at her inside the home they shared on the corner of Baker and Marsh.

LaShaw then turned the gun toward another woman inside the house, before going outside and confronting two men sitting in a vehicle parked in front of the house, deputies said.

Deputies said LaShaw walked out to the car, pointed the gun at the driver’s head and threatened to kill him.

He then kicked the car several times, said sheriff’s Lt. David Wiyrick.

LaShaw did not fire the gun and no one was injured.

LaShaw, 35, was charged with second-degree assault and second degree malicious mischief, both felonies, and booked into the Spokane County Jail.

Car crashes through fence

A Spokane Valley man crashed his car through a fence, backed over mailboxes and bushes while trying to flee and then threatened onlookers Saturday night.

Deputies said Arron K. Rinesmith, 31, was drunk during the tangle with the fence and witnesses and charged him with driving under the influence of alcohol.

He was also charged with felony harassment, reckless driving, driving without a license and refusal to give information.

Residents told deputies that Rinesmith’s 1980 Pontiac Sunbird slid into a fence in the 9500 block of East Fourth about 8 p.m.

After Rinesmith backed the car over the bushes and mailboxes, one of the neighbors reached into the car and pulled the keys out of the ignition, Wiyrick said.

Rinesmith managed to start the car without the key and yelled at witnesses while he drove at them, deputies said.

Rinesmith then parked the car, got out and threatened witnesses as deputies arrived, Wiyrick said.

Teens arrested for burglary

Deputies charged two teenage boys with burglarizing a Valley house.

One of the boys broke into the house in the 5300 block of East Granite Point Drive last Thursday and let the other one inside, Wiyrick said.

Neighbors told deputies they saw the two leave the house.

The homeowner’s 15-year-old daughter confronted one of the teens and took back some of what was taken from the house, Wiyrick said.

The boys, both 14, were charged with residential burglary and second-degree theft. One of them was also charged with second-degree possession of stolen property.

Deputies found the boys in a shed behind a house in the 500 block of South Custer. Deputies said one of the boys was staying in the shed.

Deputies said they found the rest of the things taken during the burglary in the shed.
