Padres Double Gwynn Total

A couple of decades removed from spirited games in their back yard in Long Beach, Tony and Chris Gwynn will finally play together on the same team.

Chris Gwynn, four years and 2,154 hits behind his famous older brother, agreed to a minor league contract with the San Diego Padres. He’ll go to spring training with the big-league club, and has a good shot at making the final 25-man roster because the Padres can use a veteran left-handed pinch-hitter.

Right-hander Pedro Astacio and third baseman Mike Blowers, the two Los Angeles Dodgers players eligible for arbitration, agreed to one-year contracts.
