Remembrance Service Scheduled

Dishman First Baptist Church is holding a service to honor Martin Luther King Jr. at 6 p.m. Sunday. The church, at 315 N. Argonne Road, is holding the service for the fourth consecutive year and will be joined by three other congregations.

Choirs from the African-American Mount Olive Baptist Church, the Korean Baptist Church and the Russian Baptist Church will sing. Dr. L.D. William from Mount Olive will speak.

The Rev. M.R. Kidwell, pastor of Dishman Baptist Church, stresses that the service is open to everyone, not just Southern Baptists.

“We want to invite everybody,” he says. “One of the goals is to display Christian unity, that there are no racial lines within the church.”
