At&T; Begins First Round Of Layoffs
AT&T Corp. began handing out pink slips to at least 2,000 employees Tuesday, the first in a series of layoffs that will eliminate 40,000 jobs over the next three years across the country.
Supervisors began delivering the news in one-on-one meetings.
“The old Ma Bell mentality that you have a job for life is not there anymore,” said Bob Cort, 40.
