Dollar Rallies In Europe

The dollar strengthened broadly Tuesday, reaching four-month highs against the German mark and Swiss franc on growing expectations that European interest rates will decline.

Money traders said the rally fed off remarks from key German monetary officials on Monday and Tuesday about what they called the need for lower rates in Germany.

The appetite for dollars helped strengthen the currency against the Japanese yen as well, despite a lack of news to inspire yen sellers.
