G-Prep Uses Late Rally To Beat Rogers

Justin Powell and Bryan Herrin both scored eight points in the fourth quarter to rally the Gonzaga Prep boys basketball team past Rogers 55-52 Tuesday night at G-Prep.

Powell and Herrin hit 3-pointers on consecutive trips down the court to put the Bullpups (5-3 Greater Spokane League, 9-3 overall) up by three with 52 seconds left.

The Pirates (0-8, 1-11) opened a 38-23 lead in the first half, but G-Prep held Rogers to 14 points the rest of the way.

Herrin finished with 18 points, while Powell added 12. Da’Andrey Mosby had 17 points for the Pirates.

Scott Stocum scored 10 points in the first quarter as the fourth-ranked Saxons (7-1, 11-1) opened a 15-5 lead and cruised to a win over the Highlanders (2-6, 3-9) at Spokane Falls Community College.

Stocum shot 7 for 7 from the field for the game and finished with 20 points.

Ferris’ Jeremy Lucke scored 11 of his career-high 17 points in the fourth quarter.
