Man Arrested On Rape Charges

Kootenai County sheriff’s deputies arrested a 38-year-old man Tuesday on charges he raped a 19-year-old Bayview woman.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested Kim P. Copeland at his home in Bayview, said Sgt. Brad Maskell.

The woman, an acquaintance of Copeland’s, called the sheriff’s department about 11:10 a.m. Tuesday, shortly after she said she had been attacked.

She told deputies that Copeland forced her to have sex with him at her home in Bayview. Deputies found Copeland at his home three miles away without incident.

County records show that in 1994 another woman requested a domestic violence restraining order against Copeland.

He is being held at the Kootenai County Jail.
