Post Falls Wins See-Saw Battle With Lewiston

Post Falls edged Lewiston 49-46 in an Inland Empire League girls basketball game at Trojans Gym on Tuesday night.

The Trojans (3-4, 11-7) rallied from a six-point halftime deficit to take a 39-35 lead into the fourth quarter of the see-saw game.

Post Falls was led by senior Heidi Umthun’s 14 points.

Lewiston (3-4, 9-8) got 16 points from Sara McEachern.

Post Falls travels to meet IEL leader Sandpoint (6-0, 14-2) on Thursday while the Bengals entertain defending state A-1 champion Lake City (5-2, 11-6).

The Badgers outrebounded the visiting Wildcats 40-27 and piled up 17 steals in a league rout.

Kellogg (2-7, 5-12) trailed 34-21 at halftime.

Bonners Ferry (6-1, 11-5) had four players score in double figures, led by Becky Bateman’s 18 points. Amber Paulson picked up a team-high 10 rebounds.

Pauline Costa’s 14 points topped Kellogg.

The Badgers and Wildcats are at Lakeland (2-5, 2-13) and Priest River (3-4, 9-7), respectively, for IML games on Thursday.

Defense keyed the Eagles’ victory over the visiting Wampus Cats, who scored just six points in each of the first and third quarters.

Audrey Wallace’s 14 points led a balanced Falls Christian (3-2, 11-5) offense. Sarah Peterson added 12 points and 10 assists.

Senior Hailey Scofield took game scoring honors with 19 points for Clark Fork (3-3, 8-8).

The Eagles host Mullan (0-5, 1-12) in NSL play on Thursday. Clark Fork is at Wallace (5-11).

The Bears turned their defense up a notch in the second half, limiting the Bantams to just 13 field-goal attempts.

Angie Sorbel continued to have the hot hand for Moscow (17-1), scoring a game-high 18 points and grabbing seven rebounds.

Sorbel’s career-high 35 points led Moscow past Kellogg 83-31 in IML play on Saturday.

Bonners Ferry is at Moscow on Saturday.

The Lumberjacks pulled away in the third quarter and maintained the advantage over the visiting Nighthawks.

Bryanna Reynold’s 13 points led St. Maries (5-12). Post Amanda Tams hit 7 of 11 free throws on her way to 11 points and six rebounds.

The Lumberjacks are idle until Saturday when they visit Lakeland.
