A Naval Academy midshipman who pleaded guilty to drug charges in a court-martial Jan. 4 was sentenced Wednesday to 42 months in jail and dismissal from the Navy.

Senior class midshipman Jason Anthony Harloff, 22, also must give up all service benefits and pay, according to the sentence issued by the judge, Marine Corps Lt. Col. Ronald Rogers at the Navy Yard in Washington.

Harloff of Fairport, N.Y., was the first to go to trial of 24 midshipmen arrested last fall for allegedly using marijuana and LSD. Harloff pleaded guilty to possession, conspiracy, use and transfer of LSD.
