Forest Owners Would Choose Tax Categories
Certain forest property owners could get a tax break under a bill introduced Thursday by Hilde Kellogg, R-Post Falls.
The measure would allow anyone who owns between 2,000 and 5,000 acres of forest land to choose under which forest tax classification they would like to pay property taxes.
Kellogg said tree farmers in her district want the legislation. She declined to elaborate.
The House Revenue and Taxation Committee voted unanimously to introduce the bill.
Full hearings will be scheduled later.
