U.S. 500 Plans Announced
A race purse of at least $3.6 million, with a minimum $1 million winner’s share, was announced for the U.S. 500, the race that will be run on May 26, the same day as the Indianapolis 500, as a protest by car owners against new Indy 500 qualifying rules.
The U.S. 500 at Michigan International Speedway will begin at 11 a.m. PDT on May 26, 2 hours after the start of the 80th Indy 500. ESPN will carry the U.S. 500 live. ABC will carry the Indy 500.
