‘Dr. Dirt’ Leads Hope Classic
Brad Bryant, “Dr. Dirt” to his pals on the PGA Tour, cranked out his second consecutive 7-under-par 65 to take a one-shot lead after three rounds of the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic at Palm Desert, Calif.
Bryant was at 15 under, one ahead of Nolan Henke, who shot a 64 on the third day of the five-day, 90-hole tournament.
At Orlando, Fla., after a 3-1/2 month rest, Patty Sheehan is back on top of the leaderboard after the first round of the HealthSouth Inaugural at Walt Disney World’s Lake Buena Vista course.
With a bogey-free 6-under-par 66, the LPGA Hall of Famer earned a one-shot lead over Caroline Pierce, who fashioned a seven-birdie, two-bogey 67. Tracy Hanson of Rathdrum, Idaho, shot a 35-36-71.
At Dorado, Puerto Rico, an hour-long rain storm pelted the Hyatt Dorado Beach east course, halting play in the first round of the $800,000 Senior Tournament of Champions.
Two of the 23 players finished the first round, and all made the turn. They will pick play up this morning where they left off.
