Missing Skiers Hike Back To Lodge At Schweitzer

From Staff And Wire Reports

Two skiers reported missing from Schweitzer Mountain Resort Friday were found in good condition early Saturday morning.

Jeff Coulter, 44, and Arthur Goldblum, 45, both from Bonner County, were skiing out of bounds on the back side of the resort.

Authorities said the men separated from a group they were with and ended up skiing into a deep, wooded drainage. The two were reported missing in the afternoon.

Search and rescue teams from Schweitzer and the sheriff’s department combed the mountain looking for the men. But the two eventually hiked out of the drainage and back to the ski village at about 2:50 a.m.

The men told authorities they were not lost, but had just skied too far down the mountain. Neither man required any medical attention.
