Mudslide Destroys Homes, Killing Six

Compiled From Wire Services

A mudslide swept away two homes and part of a road in western Colombia on Monday, killing at least six people and injuring 15 others, police said. Four people were missing.

The mudslide, caused by heavy rains in the region over the past few days, swept across a 300-yard stretch of a highway in El Quince, 155 miles northwest of the capital Bogota. It cut off travel between the cities of Medellin and Quibdo, the capital of the Pacific coast region Choco.

Most of the victims belonged to the same family, Col. Roberto Ojeda told RCN radio.
