Bill Would Make A Spectacle Of Spanking

Some New Hampshire lawmakers are pushing for tough punishments for young vandals - a good, bare-bottomed spanking, in public.

A bill introduced in the state legislature would apply the punishment to convicted vandals age 12 and older. A Superior Court jury would decide the number of whacks, the event would be announced in local papers and then a sheriff would administer the punishment.

“Some people might say it’s cruel, nasty and mean to have the sheriff paddle some kid’s butt, but spanking has never done anybody a tremendous amount of harm if done properly,” said the bill’s co-sponsor, Republican Rep. Richard Kennedy.
