Skidding Kings Fall To Devils

John MacLean scored on the first shot of the game and set up a short-handed goal by Brian Rolston Tuesday night, leading the New Jersey Devils to a 3-1 victory over the faltering Los Angeles Kings in East Rutherford, N.J.

Martin Brodeur had a relatively easy game, stopping 22 shots to extend the Kings’ winless streak to seven games (0-5-2).

Johan Garpenlov capped his first career hat trick by scoring the go-ahead goal with 55.4 seconds left as Florida extended its unbeaten streak to six games by defeating Washington.

The Panthers twice blew two-goal leads, but prevailed on their first even-strength goal of the night.
