Cancer Claims ‘Man With Iron Jaws’

Compiled From Wire Services

Ed Sciurba, who got into “Ripley’s Believe It Or Not” for pulling trucks and buses with his teeth, has died of intestinal cancer. He was 89.

Sciurba, who died Friday, spent his youth vying for the record books with unusual stunts.

He towed a 11-ton fire engine using a rope between his teeth, hauled three buses for 40 feet and bit pennies in half.

Sciurba got the title “The Man with Iron Jaws” in a Ripley feature dated May 8, 1938, for pulling three buses totaling 28,800 pounds with his teeth.
