Chiefs Trip Portland

Associated Press

The Spokane Chiefs broke a 2-2 tie in the third period with goals from Jason Podollan and Joe Cardarelli to defeat the Portland Winter Hawks 4-2 in a Western Hockey League game Saturday in Spokane.

Podollan poked home his own rebound off a shot just 58 seconds into the third for the eventual game winner, and Cardarelli scored a power play goal at 13:03.

Other Chief goals came from newly acquired winger Jan Hrdina and rookie Kris Graf.

Hrdina, acquired from Seattle on Wednesday, made an immediate impact for the Chiefs by adding an assist. The Czech right winger got both points on the power play.
