Liberty Ship On Tour

Associated Press

The SS Jeremiah O’Brien, the last surviving unaltered Liberty Ship from World War II, arrives here today as part of a Northwest tour.

The San Francisco-based ship on Monday was in Victoria, British Columbia, where it was Canada Day.

The O’Brien, the last seagoing survivor of 2,751 identical cargo ships built during the war, has a cruising speed of about 11 knots, depending on the weather, the currents and the state of the ship’s hull.

The ship will be in Seattle for the Fourth of July.
