Associated Press

National League

Spokane’s Kevin Stocker, recalled earlier in the day, drove in two runs and Mike Williams scattered eight hits in seven innings Monday night as the Philadelphia Phillies beat the New York Mets 6-4 in Philadelphia.

Stocker, who batted only .186 in 46 games with the Phillies before being sent down to Triple-A Scranton-Wilkes Barre on June 3, doubled home two runs in the fifth inning as Philadelphia halted a six-game losing streak to New York.

Dodgers 10, Padres 2

San Diego

Mike Piazza had three RBIs and the first of three Los Angeles homers in the fifth inning, and Todd Hollandsworth went 5 for 5 as the Dodgers beat San Diego.

Piazza, who went 4 for 5 to increase his N.L. batting lead to .364, has five homers and 11 RBIs in his last three games.

Pirates 4, Cubs 1

Pittsburgh

Danny Darwin, who nearly retired after last season, continued his remarkable comeback with seven innings of sixhit pitching to lead Pittsburgh past Chicago.

Mike Hampton pitched a five-hitter, and Houston got its third straight complete game for the first time in 10 years with a victory over Florida.

Giants 9, Rockies 6

San Francisco

Mark Carreon hit a two-run home run, and Barry Bonds homered and drove in three runs as San Francisco ended a 10-game losing streak with a win over Colorado.

Looking slimmer and walking slowly, Tom Lasorda left the hospital to recuperate from a minor heart attack.

It is not yet known when the 68-year-old manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers manager will be back in the dugout.

Clearing the bases

Dante Bichette of the Colorado Rockies and Brian Jordan of the St. Louis Cardinals were honored as co-players of the week. Bichette hit four home runs and drove in 11 runs while Jordan hit two homers and had 12 RBIs. Bichette batted .500 (16 for 32) with nine runs scored and 29 total bases. Jordan also hit .500 (13 for 26) with three doubles, eight runs scored and seven stolen bases.

Montreal’s 47-34 record at the midway point is third-best in club history. … The Phillies’ 6-21 record in June was their worst in that month since 1942 when they went 5-19.

The Cubs signed right-hander Todd Noel, their No. 1 pick in last month’s free-agent draft… . Left-handed hitting Ray Lankford of St. Louis has hit all 14 of his home runs against right-handers.
