Crystal Prism Likely Started Truck Fire

From Staff And Wire Reports

A crystal prism is believed to have started a fire that destroyed a parked truck, a fire official said.

The crystal prism clock, which was hanging from the passenger side roof, reflected sunlight onto a stack of papers on the dashboard and eventually ignited the paper on Tuesday, fire Capt. Rich Dragoo said.

Truck owner James Johnson was given the prism clock by his insurance company, Dragoo said.

The truck, which had not been started the day of the fire, had been parked behind a car wash.

“It was a process of elimination for what started the fire and we eliminated everything else,” Dragoo said.
