Five Killed In Ohio Helicopter Crash

A helicopter crashed Monday near a campground, killing all five people aboard.

The helicopter crashed in a farm field shortly after 11 a.m., about 20 minutes after taking off from Salem Airpark. Its destination was not known.

“The engines went out,” said Ken Birt, who was camping about a quarter-mile away at Chapparal Trailer Park. “I waited and thought it landed, then I heard a boom.”

Identities of the victims were withheld until their families could be notified.
