Education’s Future Topic Of Symposium

The challenging future of public education is the theme of a free symposium July 23-25 sponsored by Eastern Washington University.

The public is invited to hear a variety of speakers each day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Martin Hall on the university’s Cheney campus.

On July 23, Superintendent Gary Livingston of Spokane School District and teachers union executive director Roger Erskine of the Seattle Education Association will speak.

On July 24, the speakers are Superintendent Ellen Wolf of Walla Walla School District and Superintendent Bill Mester of Mead School District.

On July 25, Pat Mainella, reading program coordinator for Spokane schools, and Luann Flanagan, elementary reading consultant for Central Valley School District, will speak.

The annual symposium on education was established in the early 1970s by EWU faculty member Obed Williamson.
