Stock Slump Affects Dollar
The dollar ended mostly lower for the third straight day Wednesday, dragged down by a big sell-off in the American stock market.
Traders said U.S. corporate nervousness about the dollar’s strength against the yen also played a role in the dollar’s weakness, a theme that has emerged in recent days.
Although the dollar gained in early Asian dealings, much of the strength evaporated later when the Dow Jones industrial average fell more than 130 points before it partly recovered to close with an 83-point loss.
