The United System of Independent Soccer Leagues, a 10-year-old league with 87 teams nationwide, is merging with the A-League, which will be the name of the new league.

The new league will be classified as a second-division league - soccer’s rough equivalent of a farm system - by the U.S. Soccer Federation. The USISL also includes several other leagues, including a men’s outdoors amateur division known as the Premier League, which includes the Spokane Shadow.
