70-Year-Old Wins $4 Million Jackpot

From Staff And Wire Reports

A 70-year-old Bellingham man has claimed this week’s $4 million Washington state Lotto jackpot.

Matthew Gudmundson, who had the winning ticket for Wednesday’s drawing, will receive $144,000 for the next 20 years, after federal withholding tax.

Gudmundson, a retired schoolteacher and a commercial fisherman in the summer, bought the ticket at Yorky’s Grocery in Bellingham.

Nellie Gudmundson said she and her husband will use some of the money to fix up their vacation cabin at Point Roberts.
