Hoch Leads Michelob

Scott Hoch’s putting stroke left him, but his long game returned, and his 3-under-par 68 in the second round of the Michelob Championship left him with a two-shot lead at Williamsburg, Va.

Kirk Triplett is at 3-under 139.

Ray Floyd shot a 6-under-par 66 and was tied for the lead with Hale Irwin and John Bland halfway through the Senior Players Championship, the tour’s final major tournament of the year.

The trio had a 7-under 137 total for two trips around the 6,876-yard TPC of Michigan, played at Dearborn. Irwin had a 67, while Bland had a 69.

First-round leader Tom Weiskopf followed Thursday’s 66 with a 79 that included a double-bogey 6 on No. 12 and a double-bogey 7 on 17.

Amy Fruhwirth, Barb Mucha and Kelly Robbins each shot 5-under-par 67 over the 6,308-yard Avalon Lakes Golf Course to finish atop the leader board going into today’s second round of the YoungstownWarren LPGA Classic at Warren, Ohio.

Rathdrum’s Tracy Hanson shot 3-under 69, while Clarkston’s Robin Walton struggled to an 80.
