Fire That Burned Hillyard Building Could Be Arson, Officials Say

From Staff And Wire Reports

A two-alarm fire that burned the attic of a Hillyard building early Saturday may have been intentionally set, fire officials said.

The fire started in a lumber pile next to a building at 5407 N. Julia. When firefighters arrived at about 4 a.m., flames had climbed up the building and into the attic.

Thirty-five firefighters battled the blaze for nearly three hours before it was finally extinguished.

No one was injured by the fire.

Fire inspectors have not determined a cause, but are calling the fire suspicious.
