Dole Plans Tax Cut, Names Keynoter

Bob Dole said Monday night that he would propose a broad-based economic package by the end of the month and that it would would include a tax cut.

Interviewed with his wife, Elizabeth, on CNN’s “Larry King Live,” Dole also disclosed that he had selected Rep. Susan Molanari of New York, a moderate Republican who supports abortion rights, to deliver the keynote address at next month’s GOP convention in San Diego.

The selection of Molanari - whom Dole said he hadn’t yet formally asked - was yet another sign by Dole that he was reaching out to female voters and trying to bridge internal differences over abortion.
