As Camilla Can Tell You, Charity Begins At Home

Still-the-Princess Diana shocked the British philanthropic world by resigning from almost 100 charities for which she’s raised millions, including the Red Cross.

“As I seek to reorganize my life it will not be possible for me to provide you with the level of commitment that I believe you deserve,” Di wrote Tuesday, the day after her preliminary divorce from Prince Charles was approved.

“I feel that someone else in the royal family may now be better suited to support your tremendous endeavors.”

Meanwhile, Charles, in a display of his suitability for the role, has provided paramour Camilla Parker Bowles with a new American Express Platinum card, with which she reportedly charged $12,000 worth of clothes including an $1,800 black cocktail dress.

Unfortunately, that’s just the facts, ma’am

Harry Morgan, 81, best known as Col. Potter on “M.A.S.H.” and Bill Gannon on “Dragnet,” faces an arraignment next Tuesday on charges that he beat his 70-year-old wife. Officers responding to a 911 call last week found a distraught Barbara Morgan inside their home with an injured left foot, a small cut near her right eye and a bruised arm.

They’re not the man’s best friendly skies

Eric Douglas, youngest son of screen legend Kirk, has been sentenced to 30 days behind bars, including drug treatment, for letting his dog out of its cage during an airplane flight. Douglas, who rolled blankets into balls and threw them at flight attendants during the March incident, twice had charges dismissed for disrupting previous flights.

He’ll be seeing a lot of the prison chaplain

Just hours after actor Robert Downey Jr. was charged with cocaine, heroin and weapons offenses stemming from a speeding stop last month, he was arrested again Tuesday night for trespassing. A Malibu couple came home and found Downey passed out in their house.

If they listen, we’ll all be breathing easier

And speaking of dangerous drugs, former talk host Morton Downey Jr. was released from the hospital in “good spirits” Tuesday following surgery to remove a cancerous tumor from his right lung. Downey, long a heavy smoker, has made a series of public service announcements advising young people to stay away from cigarettes.
