Psychic Envisions Girl In Rock Quarry

Associated Press

Authorities began draining 3 million gallons of water from an abandoned rock quarry after a woman claimed she had a vision that a girl missing for seven years had been dumped there.

Madison County Sheriff Verlon Young refused to identify the visionary who claims the 13-year-old girl’s body was wrapped in a blanket and rested at the bottom of the quarry, which is 30 feet deep.

“I don’t want to say she is a psychic. She prayed about the case, and this is the revelation,” Young said. “I don’t put much stock in psychics, but I do believe in prayer.”

Gina Dawn Brooks disappeared on Aug. 5, 1989, while riding a bike near her home in Fredericktown, 35 miles east of the granite quarry here in southeast Missouri. Investigators believe she was abducted.

The woman came to police three weeks ago. She told Young that she believed he would find Gina’s body and the body of a woman in the quarry.
