A section of steel track on an amusement park ride apparently broke, jolting cars as they rolled over the area and slightly injuring 16 passengers.
The “Musik Express” ride malfunctioned Sunday night, shaking its cars with an impact akin to “hitting a pothole in your car,” said Kate Horner, director of operations at Riverside Park.
She said 47 people were on the ride in vehicles that are attached to one another and travel in a circle around the steel track. When the track broke, the cars’ wheels bumped over a depression, but the cars did not derail.
An operator stopped the ride after hearing a strange noise. All 16 people were treated at hospitals and released, she said.
