Cigarettes Stolen From Excell Store

From Staff And Wire Reports

Criminals continue to target Spokane’s Excell grocery stores.

Early Sunday, someone smashed the front window of the Excell Food Store at 17th and Ray and stole nearly 40 cartons of cigarettes, police said. The haul was worth about $900.

It was the second time in 10 days someone broke into the store to steal cigarettes, police said.

The burglary came on the heels of four armed robberies at Excell grocery stores across town, including the store at 17th and Ray on July 12.

Two men were arrested and charged with those robberies last week.
