Britain To Ban Parts Of Sheep, Goats

Findings that mad cow disease may be transmitted from cows to other animals are expected to prompt Britain to ban parts of sheep and goat offal from the human food chain.

Agriculture Minister Douglas Hogg will announce the ban on the use of sheep and goat brains, spinal cords and spleens in the human food chain this week, Independent Television News reported.

Experiments at the Institute of Animal Health in Edinburgh showed that sheep and goats could catch bovine spongiform encephalopathy, known as mad cow disease.
