Teens Held After High-Speed Chase

From Staff And Wire Reports

Two Spokane teenagers were arrested in a stolen car Monday after leading officers on a high-speed chase from Ritzville to Cheney, authorities said.

A 16-year-old boy was booked into the Spokane County Juvenile Detention Center for possession of stolen property and felony eluding officers.

His 16-year-old passenger was booked for possession of stolen property. The youths are also suspects in the theft of the car early Monday in Spokane.

The boys drove to Seattle in the 1987 Honda Accord and were on their way back when a state trooper spotted the car five miles west of Ritzville at 11:35 p.m. Monday.

The driver didn’t stop for the trooper and a chase followed with speeds up to 100 mph.

The Honda drove over a spike strip placed by a sheriff’s deputy near the Cheney exit. The strip flattened one tire, and the boys wound up stopping the car at the Medical Lake exit. , DataTimes
