Madison Paving Project Approved

One of the remaining stretches of dirt street in the North Hill neighborhood is going to be paved. The Spokane City Council Monday approved the $49,900 project on Madison Street from Kiernan to a half block north of Providence.

The bid by Renco Contracting Inc. was $7,000 under the city engineer’s estimate of the work.

In other North Side business, the council:

Set a hearing before the hearing examiner on Aug. 20 at 3 p.m. at City Hall for forming a local improvement district for installation of curbs and sidewalk and the paving of Magnolia Street from Fairview Avenue to North Foothills Drive.

Approved a local improvement district to pave the alley between Bridgeport and Liberty avenues from Morton to Perry streets.

Approved another local improvement district for the paving of Walnut Street from Maxwell to Mission avenue.

Agreed to terminate a public street dedication of Cleveland Avenue between Madelia and Pittsburg streets and an adjacent alley.
