Get A Handel On Sunday Evening

William Berry

Gunpowder and woodwinds? It must be time for the annual Royal Fireworks Concert in Riverfront Park.

The music of Georg Frederic Handel will be played by an authentic, if bug-eaten, 18th century wind band Sunday night on the floating stage, accompanied by a pyrotechnic display.

Other music will include Copland’s “Fanfare for the Common Man” and a tribute to the Olympics.

The Royal Fireworks Concert begins at 9 p.m. Admission is, of course, free.
