Two Killed In Crash Of Light Plane Near Pasco

From Staff And Wire Reports

Two people aboard a light plane were killed Saturday morning when the twin-engine Cessna crashed and burned in Benton County, authorities said.

Coroner Floyd Johnson said the private plane left the Pasco airport at 8:45 a.m. Richland police responded to a report of a downed plane 15 minutes later.

Johnson said “the plane was consumed by fire.”

Both victims were badly burned and their identities could not immediately be determined, Johnson said. They are believed to be male.

Only the tail section of the aircraft remained intact after the plane crashed and ignited in a field northwest of the Richland airport.

Johnson said he didn’t know if the victims died as a result of impact from the crash, or because of the fire. He plans to perform autopsies on Monday.
