Alfred Nugent Jr. Coeur d’Alene

Service for Alfred E. Nugent Jr., 85, will be today at 1 p.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene. Burial will follow at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene.

Mr. Nugent, who was born in Idaho, died Friday.

In 1963 he moved from Kellogg to Coeur d’Alene after retiring. He graduated from the University of Idaho with a bachelors degree in Geology and Mining Engineering and also from UI graduate school with a professional degree.

Mr. Nugent worked as an exploration geologist and mining engineer for Bunker Hill until 1962. He later worked for Merger Mines in Coeur d’Alene.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Royal Arch, Commandry and the Shriners.

He is survived by his wife, Emily.

Hal ‘D’ Hodges Albion, Wash.

Service for Hal “D” Hodges, 64, will be held today at 1 p.m. in Rigby, Idaho. Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hodges, who was born in Lewiston, Utah, died Wednesday at the Veterans Hospital in Spokane.

He grew up and attended schools in Utah and Idaho Falls, Idaho, before serving with the Navy in the Pacific.

He retired from the Navy in 1950 and worked as a long-haul truck driver.

Survivors include his wife, Marcheta Hodges; four sons, Wayne Hunsaker of Hartline, Wash., Randy Hunsaker of Idaho Falls, and Cal and Ryan Hodges, both of Pullman; three daughters, Dee Hodges of Georgia, Kelley McMillan of Moscow, Idaho, and Tonah Hartig of Michigan; his father, Ivan Hodges of Idaho Falls; three sisters, Patty Barnes of Idaho Falls, Nancy Casper of Ucon, Idaho, and Sherry Hinman of California; 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society or the Veterans Administration Hospital in Spokane.
