Passengers Killed As Train Hits Boxcars

Compiled From Wire Services

A passenger train slammed into four loose freight cars full of cement in western Siberia on Friday, killing at least 17 people, officials said.

The accident occurred in a forest near the village of Litvinovo, in the Kemerovo region of Siberia, 1,200 miles east of Moscow.

The four freight cars were improperly braked and rolled onto the tracks, report said.
