Aerospace Workers Reject Contract Offer

Machinists for aerospace giant McDonnell Douglas overwhelmingly rejected a contract offer Sunday, and 6,700 workers could go on strike beginning Wednesday.

Members of the International Association of Machinists District 837 were prepared to walk out over McDonnell’s increasing use of outside contractors and the transfer of some work to non-union plants in Mesa, Ariz. and Macon, Ga.
