Area Students Honored For Vocational Work

Several Inland Northwest high school, skills center and college students received 1996 Washington Awards for Vocational Excellence by the Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board. The students, their majors and high schools are:

Kris W. Wickstead, in automotive and industrial arts at North Central; Daniel R.L. Campbell, Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA), Lewis and Clark; Lesha Miles, civil engineering technology, Spokane Community College; Nathan P. Jeffries, DECA, Mead; David D. Johnson, business and marketing, Central Valley; Sheila L. Franklin, respiratory therapy, SCC; Jennifer R. Alfano, business education, Ferris; Minda J. Dentler, International Marketing and DECA, Mead; Michelle Linderman, office administration/secretarial, Spokane Falls Community College; Tim Coley, business, Davenport High School; Trish E. Schwartz, agricultural education, Reardan High School; Kathleen L. Burger, Colbert, respiratory care, SCC; Rachel A. Jessop, accounting and business, Washtucna High School; Jared S. Templin, Future Farmers of America, Ritzville High School; and Gina R. Earnst, Cheney, a non-invasive cardiovascular technology, SCC.

George and Angeline Dick and Jim Lemley were named Child Advocates of the Year by the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery at its ninth annual anniversary dinner program.

Others honored were: Robert Gilles, Crisis Nursery Funding Development Board Member of the Year; Kellie Durgan, Crisis Nursery Auxiliary Founding President’s Award; and Brian Barbour, Crisis Nursery Founder’s Award.

Warrant Officer Dominic Kuntz recently graduated from the United States Army Helicopter Flight School at Fort Rucker, Ala. He is a 1989 graduate of Riverside High School and the son of Wayne and Diane Kuntz, Chattaroy. He is stationed at Fort Greeley, Delta Junction, Alaska.

Jane Reed has been elected president-elect of the Spokane County Medical Society Auxiliary, a group of physicians’ spouses.

Other newly elected officers are: Beth Brasch, Linda Browne, Colleen Meighan and Gail Duba, vice-presidents; Julie Snow treasurer; and Ruth Benage, assistant treasurer.

Linda Milsow, was elected president-elect of the Washington State Medical Association Alliance. Other local physicians’ spouses who will assume state offices are: Deborah Roundy, vice-president; and Peggy Doering, regional vicepresident.
