Famed Navy Class Of ‘47 Plans Reunion
Rushed through the U.S. Naval Academy in just three years because of World War II, the class of 1947, which went on to become the school’s most accomplished, will gather here for a reunion this week.
The list of distinguished graduates includes former President Carter and former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Adm. William J. Crowe.
The class, which includes more four-star admirals than any other, was scheduled to graduate in 1947 but finished a year early because of the war.
