Asu Track On Probation

The Pac-10 put Arizona State’s track and field programs on three years’ probation and reduced the number of scholarships it can award during 1997-98.

The conference also said the university reported its own rules violations after doing a quick, thorough investigation. Among the measures taken to reduce the impact of the violations was the forced resignation of head coach Leonard Braxton in December 1995.

The improprieties included impermissible transportation and meal benefits, improper recruiting contacts, and unethical conduct.
