Airport Growth Maintains Hot Pace

Spokane International Airport’s run of phenomenal growth in passenger traffic continued during April.

The airport served 161,616 people during the month, an increase of 16.4 percent over April 1995. Through the first four months of 1996, the airport handled 1,042,199 passengers for an increase of 22.2 percent over the first four months of 1995.

Spokane International has experienced double-digit growth rates year over year for the past three years.

During April, the airport handled 12 percent more freight and mail than it did in April, 1995, and for the first four months of the year, cargo activity was up 15 percent over the same period a year ago.

At Felts Field, freight was up 18 percent in April and 13.5 percent for the first four months of the year.
