All-League Honors Go To Athletes

By The Spokesman-Review

Frontier League

Nine athletes from West Valley and East Valley ended the school year where they began, selected by Frontier League coaches to all-league teams.

Eagle Joe Bonner was a football offensive lineman last fall and this spring was district champion and state-placing javelin thrower.

Knight Jesse Ewell was a two-way football all-state player and district shot put champion in track. The stocky 220-pounder was also an imposing sight when he powered through a 400-meter race.

EV’s Chris Henderson, WV’s Heather Harmon and Clayton Holmes made the logical distance running progression from cross country to track state meets.

Speedy Eagle Cindy Simpson was named in soccer and as a track sprinter on state qualifying relay teams.

Knight Angela Overdorff was a star in volleyball and softball, just as WV’s Justin Tichy and EV’s Kyle LeGrant were both in football and baseball.

They are among the 30 students from West Valley and 17 from East Valley so honored this spring.

All told 73 Valley athletes, representing nine sports were either named to All-GSL or All-Frontier teams.

They represent the finest their leagues had to offer in the nine sports that bring their high school seasons, and in many instances their careers, to an end.
