Making a difference

The article on SCOPE (Valley Voice, May 20) is much appreciated as Valley residents need to know we are here. If we are to keep our communities safe and as crime-free as possible we all need to get involved. We can’t always rely on the other person to do it all. Willing and dedicated volunteers are the backbone of these SCOPE groups.

School, patrols, citizens patrol, fingerprinting, graffiti control, the citizens crisis unit are among the many interesting activities one can get involved in. They all help to keep crime out of our schools and neighborhoods. We can all feel a bit more safe knowing they are there to help.

In spite of some “growing pains,” I feel that what time I am able to give to SCOPE as a volunteer is well worth the effort. Billie Evers West Valley SCOPE
