Infant Dies; Was Left In Car Seat By Mom

Compiled From Wire Services

A mother who forgot she left her 3-month-old daughter strapped in a car seat when she went to work on a hot day found the baby dead after returning from lunch, police said.

The woman had taken her two oldest children to a friend’s house Friday morning before going to work, but forgot her baby daughter was inside the car, said homicide detective Larry Spinosa.

Police said the mother, whose identity was not released, and a colleague drove to lunch in the 105-degree heat, but didn’t notice the girl’s limp and breathless body in the back of the vehicle.
