Obituaries

Mavis Morris Colville, Wash.

Service for Mavis P. Morris, 54, will be at 2 p.m. today at Colville First Baptist Church in Colville. Cremation will follow. Danekas Funeral Home in Colville, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Morris died Tuesday. She was born in Canada.

She grew up in Whiterock, British Columbia, and attended beauty school in Vancouver, British Columbia.

She married Ted Morris in 1964 in Bellingham. She moved to Colville in 1968 and was involved with the operation of a cattle ranch east of Colville.

She is survived by one daughter, Trina Cox of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sons, Toby and Justin Morris, both of Colville; one brother, Melvin Bagg of Langley, British Columbia; two sisters, Evelyn Jeter and Valerie Oulds, both of Langley; special friend, Ron McCoy of Addy, Wash.; and two grandchildren.

Rev. Walter Buck Spokane

Visitation for the Rev. Walter Alan Buck, is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Service will be at 2 p.m. today at First Assembly of God Church. Burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Rev. Buck, 74, died Thursday. He was born in Hartford, Wash.

He grew up in the Everett, Wash., area, and graduated from the Northwest College of the Assemblies of God in Kirkland, Wash.

After graduating he ministered in Idaho, Montana, Richland, Seattle, and in Spokane from 1975 until 1984. He was in Borrego Springs, Calif., since 1984, and recently returned to Spokane.

He was honored for 50 years of ministry at the Assemblies of God District Council in Yakima.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Phyllis Buck; daughters, Susan Brown of Spokane, Sandra Majors of Tulsa, Okla., and Leanna Buck Serles of Seattle; son, Tim Buck of Lodi, Calif; sisters, Dorothy Garka of Everett, Margaret Ward of Wenatchee, and Gladys Williscroft of Concord, Calif.; and numerous grandchildren.

John ‘Jack’ Lyman Colville, Wash.

Graveside service for John Raymond “Jack” Lyman, 75, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mountain View Park Cemetery in Colville. Danekas Funeral Home in Colville, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Lyman, who died Wednesday, was born in Baker, Mont.

He served in the Army for two years, and returned to his home in Montana and worked on the railroad until the beginning of World War II. He signed up in the Army again and served for three years as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne.

He married Ellen Glasgow in 1943 in Birmingham, Ala.

After the war he received forestry degree from the University of Montana, and worked for the Forest Service until he retired in 1975.

He was a 31-year Colville resident, and was a member of the Colville Elks Lodge, St. Johns Episcopal Church and was a founding member of the Colville Outdoor Club.

Survivors include his wife, Ellen; daughter, Janet Jaeger of Anchorage, Alaska; sons, Jay Lyman of Portland, and Bruce Lyman of Selah, Wash.; and five grandchildren.

Donald Keenan Laclede, Idaho

Memorial service for Donald J. Keenan, 78, is planned for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home.

Mr. Keenan, who died Wednesday, was born in Crete, Neb.

He was a former longtime Spokane resident and moved to Laclede 16 years ago.

He served in the Navy during World War II. He was the owner of Bonded Adjustment Co. in Spokane for 30 years.

Mr. Keenan was a member of Spokane Executives Association, the Exchange Club, Crime Check and El Katif Shrine. His wife of 50 years, Jean, preceded him in death. He is survived by one son, Jim Keenan; one daughter, Charlene Erickson of Spokane; and his companion, Ruby McIntee; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children.
