Lawrence Phillips Arrested For Drunk Driving In L.A.

From Wire Reports

St. Louis Rams running back Lawrence Phillips, already on probation for assaulting a former girlfriend, was arrested for drunken driving in Los Angeles Thursday.

Phillips, this year’s top draft pick of the Rams, allegedly had a blood-alcohol level twice the legal limit when he was stopped for speeding. Phillips, 21, is on a year’s probation after pleading no contest to charges of misdemeanor assault and trespassing for dragging his former girlfriend down three flights of stairs.

Behring explored move in ‘95

Seattle Seahawks owner Ken Behring was exploring a move of the franchise to Anaheim, Calif., as early as July 1995, a memo by a team attorney indicates.

The four-page document was written almost six months before Behring said an earthquake study indicated that it would be unsafe to play in the Kingdome. The seismic safety complaint was a key issue when Behring announced in February he was moving the team to Southern California - a move he later reversed in the face of legal action.

King County Executive Gary Locke said Wednesday he believes the document helped force Behring to sell an option to buy the team to Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen.
